Providing RE resources for local schools

Front_BBC

As part of the Bushey Festival in July 2003, Christians from local churches expressed their faith through flowers. The theme of the arrangements was the claims that Jesus made about himself, sometimes known as the ‘I ams’.
These statements are all found in the Bible.
This picture shows the front of Bushey Baptist Church, where the flower festival was held.
The entrance has been decorated with flowers.

Word

The very first sentence in the Bible says ‘ In the beginning was the word’ and John’s gospel describes Jesus as the word of God.
In this arrangement, scrolls of paper are mixed with lilies to show God’s word bursting out.
The scrolls have different languages on them.

Good_Shepherd

Jesus said ‘I am the good shepherd.’ Here a shephed’s crook is surrounded by white flowers.

Gate

Jesus said ‘I am the gate for the sheep’. This display was created by children from Bushey Baptist Church, who made the colourful poppies.

Cross

Jesus said ‘I am the resurrection and the life’. This lovely arrangement has been built around a large wooden cross. Why do you think the arranger chose the red and white coloured flowers?

King_of_Kings_2

This beautiful arrangement of three crowns is called ‘King of Kings’, another of the titles given to Jesus. A chair has been used as a throne and covered with purple cloth, which is the colour of kingship. The top crown is made of spiky flowers and represents the crown of thorns.
